There are two kinds of people today: podcast people and everyone else. I’m a podcast person. I listen to them, talk about them, read podcast reviews—and I’m always in search of another great one to add to my list. Fortunately, there’s a wealth of well-produced and entertaining health and wellness podcasts out there for us to devour. Here are a few of my favorites.
The Rich Roll Podcast
Rich Roll has a great story. He was a collegiate swimmer who developed substance abuse issues, became a lawyer, and lost all his athletic prowess and much of his life force. Then, approaching 40, he became competitive plant-based ultra-endurance athlete and smoking-good podcaster. He’s an entertaining interviewer who brings knowledgeable and inspiring guests for longish talks on a range of wellness subjects.

Nutrition Facts with Dr. Greger
Every year thousands of studies are published on the impact of food on our health—who has time to read them all? Dr. Michael Greger, that’s who. He’s the force behind Nutritionfacts.org, a website with videos and articles on all manner of nutrition-related inquiries, and a podcast with eloquent summaries of how to eat to improve our health. Lots to consume here.

Any runners in the house? If so, you might want to check out The Shakeout podcast, from the team behind Canadian Running magazine. The editors of the magazine discuss the latest news and personalities in international athletics, and make a few recommendations on the products and procedures that may help your running. A highlight episode is the discussion with long-red-bearded Canadian endurance athlete Gary Robbins after his attempt to complete the notoriously ornery Barkley Marathon earlier this year.
