Whether you’re stuck at your desk or on your feet for 8+ hours a day, your body is always losing water and it needs to be replenished. It’s recommended that the average adult drink eight, eight ounce glasses, which equals to about two litres or half a gallon of water every day. That’s because 70% of our body is comprised of water, and our cells and organs depend on adequate water to function.

Just like getting a solid night’s rest, drinking water has positive impacts on our overall health, so it’s important to keep the hydration plan in effect each and every day. Here are some tricks to add some flavor and fun to your at-work water plan:

Hydrate first, then caffeinate:

Before you grab the AM caffeine brew, make it a ritual to start the work day with a glass of water. Your body is just waking up from 7-8 hours of dehydration overnight, so water is what your body really needs (even though your brain might be saying, double shot Americano)

Make it Spa Water:

Transport your taste buds to the day spa, by adding a burst of flavor to your water with sliced fruits like lemons, limes, oranges, watermelon, kiwi, pineapples, berries, pineapple, cantaloupe and grapes. Try one of these delicious recipes to spicy things up.

5 Tricks to Help You Drink More Water at Work

The Magic in the Bottle

Just like buying a new pair of runners to motivate you to walk more, or a fresh notebook to enhance the creative writing process, get a cup or a bottle that inspires you to drink water deliciously. At the Luvo office, we see everything from Moscow Mule copper cups, old-fashioned milk bottles, fruit infusers, to whiskey bottles that bring a vintage saloon feel to our Ikea desktops. Pick what works for you, and proudly show your H2O personality.

Make it a game!

Challenge your work mates to some healthy competition. Make a fun scoreboard or game and post it up where everyone can see it.

Put it in the calendar

Your hydration schedule is just as important as that conference call you have to make, or the email you have to write. So create the space for it in your schedule with reminders. There’s even apps you can use like Eight Glasses a Day, Waterlogged and Daily Water.
