File under delicious summer beverages you never knew you needed until this moment: wine slushies! Just like a cool glass of sangria on a hot day, wine slushies deliver a balance of refreshment and flavor you simply must try! These recipes feature fresh produce and herbs for the perfect toast to summer. As with any beverage containing alcohol, please enjoy responsibly. Now without further ado, here are three wine slushie recipes courtesy of The Artful Desperado:

Pinot Grigio, Dark Rum, Mint

Rosé, Amaretto, Orange, Peach Wine Slushi

Pinot Grigio, Dark Rum, Mint Wine Slushie

Ingredients

  • 1 bottle of pinot grigio
  • 2 shots of dark rum (about 4oz)
  • 3 tablespoons of agave syrup
  • 1 handful of fresh mint
  • 2 tablespoons of lemon juice
  • 6 cups of ice

Instructions

  1. Place all ingredients in a blender. Blend in batches if you can’t fit it all in your blender at once.
  2. Pour blended contents into glasses.
  3. Garnish with more mint and a slice of lime or lemon. Serves 4.

Cabernet Sauvignon, Strawberry, Rhubarb

Cabernet Sauvignon, Strawberry, Rhubarb Wine Slushie

Cabernet Sauvignon, Strawberry, Rhubarb Wine Slushie

Ingredients

  • 2 cups of strawberries, trimmed and cut into quarters
  • ¼ cup of chopped rhubarb
  • ¼ cup of brown sugar
  • 1 cup water
  • 1 bottle of cabernet sauvignon
  • 3 tablespoons of lemon juice
  • 6 cups of ice

Instructions

  1. Place the strawberries, rhubarb, brown sugar, and water in a saucepan over medium heat. Simmer for 3-4 minutes until rhubarb starts to soften. Remove from heat and cool completely.
  2. In a blender, combine wine, lemon juice and ice, and pour the rhubarb and strawberry mix over it. Blend until smooth. You may need to do it in a batches depending on the size of your blender.
  3. Pour contents in a glass and garnish with a strawberry and a rhubarb stalk. Serves 4.

Rosé, Amaretto, Orange, Peach

Rosé, Amaretto, Orange, Peach Wine Slushie

Ingredients

  • 2 cups of frozen peaches
  • 1 cup of orange juice
  • 3 tablespoons of lemon juice
  • 3 tablespoons of agave syrup
  • 4 cups of ice
  • 1 bottle of rosé (use a dry one)
  • 4 shots of amaretto liqueur (about 8oz)

Instructions

  1. Place all ingredients in a blender and blend until smooth. Blend in batches if you have a small blender.
  2. Pour into glasses and top each glass with 1 shot of amaretto.
  3. Garnish with mint and peach slices. Serves 4.
